The United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) is the UN’s human settlements and sustainable urban development program. It was founded in 1978 as a result of the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat I), which took place in Vancouver, Canada in 1976. UN-Habitat is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, in the United Nations Office.
