The Mittag-Leffler Institute in Djursholm, a Stockholm suburb, hosts half-year programs in specialized mathematical subjects. Managed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on behalf of research societies representing Scandinavian countries, it was established in 1969 under Lennart Carleson’s leadership. It utilizes the former residence of Gösta Mittag-Leffler, who bequeathed his mathematics library. The institute publishes Acta Mathematica and Arkiv för Matematik journals. In the early 20th century, Nobel laureates were honored with celebratory dinners at Mittag-Leffler’s villa.
