Opportunity Details

The Henan Provincial Government Scholarship is a provincial scholarship established by the government of Henan Province to assist provincial universities in recruiting excellent international students and scholars for degree and non-degree programs in the province.

Benefits of Zhengzhou University Henan Provincial Government Scholarship

  • The award will be used to cover tuition and internship fees. If the scholarship does not cover the full tuition, candidates must pay the remaining balance. Otherwise, the scholarship will be instantly canceled.
  • The Henan Government Scholarship provides differing levels of financial assistance for different educational programs. For PhD students, the fellowship grants CNY 40,000 per year for up to four years. Master’s students are eligible for tuition assistance of up to CNY 30,000 per year for a maximum of three years.
  • Bachelor’s and pre-degree program participants earn CNY 15,000 and CNY 10,000 per year, respectively, while students enrolled in Chinese Language and other scholar programs receive CNY 5,000 each semester. The grants primarily pay tuition; any additional tuition costs must be borne by the student.

Zhengzhou University Henan Provincial Government Scholarship Requirments

  • The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen, in good health, and free of any criminal histories.
  • Comply with Chinese laws, regulations, and university rules.
  • Have a positive attitude toward studying and have achieved good results in past studies.
  • Applicants for the pre-degree and undergraduate programs must have a high school diploma and be no older than 25.
  • Applicants for master’s programs must have a bachelor’s degree and be no older than 35 years.
  • Doctoral program applicants must have a master’s degree and be no older than 45 years.
  • Applicants for the Chinese language program must have a high school diploma and a maximum age of 55.
  • Applicants for the general scholar program must be sophomores or above, or bachelor’s degree holders, with a maximum age of 30.
  • Applicants for the advanced scholar program must be master students or above, or master’s degree holders, with a maximum age of 40.
  • Applicants for the research scholar program must have a PhD degree or higher, or hold an associate professorship or higher, and their maximum age is 50.

Language proficiency requirement:

  • For programs taught in Chinese, applicants must be fluent in the language and have an HSK test record.
  • Non-native English speakers should provide an IELTS or TOEFL test record for English-language programs.
  • For programs taught in English, applicants from English-speaking countries must provide English scores.
  • Applicants attending Chinese language programs do not need to have prior understanding of Chinese.

Documents Requirement:

Applicants must submit legitimate application documents listed below.

  • Henan Government Scholarship Application Form, completed in Chinese or English.
  • Certified certificate or notarized copy of highest diploma (if the applicant is a student or works, they must produce a student certificate or an employment certificate). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of their translations in one of these two languages.
  • Applicants for diploma or degree programs should produce official transcripts from previous studies.
  • Applicants for bachelor’s programs (general scholars programs), master’s programs (advanced scholars programs), and doctoral programs (research scholars programs) must submit a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English that is at least 500, 1000, or 2000 words long.
  • Applicants to master’s programs (advanced scholars programs) and doctorate programs (research scholars programs) must submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
  • Applicants for music, fine arts, and other art-related programs are asked to submit original work that meets the school’s requirements.
  • An officially acknowledged report on Chinese or English language proficiency tests, or a similar language ability certificate.
  • A foreigner’s physical examination record and blood test report must be filled in either Chinese or English.
  • No criminal record. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of their translations in one of these two languages.
  • If the applicants are under the age of 18, a Letter of Authorization or Guardian Book in China issued by Chinese embassies in other countries must be supplied.
  • Pre-admission notification.

Visa Application:

  • Scholarship students should apply for a student visa at the Chinese embassy in their home country, together with their admission notice, visa application form, Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, and blood test results. Anyone who enters China with another sort of passport or visa is considered to have willfully given up the scholarship and will be unable to register with the university.

  • Prepare paper duplicates of the materials required by the Henan Provincial Government Scholarship application.
