These grants aim to empower visual journalists working in a documentary capacity by providing financial assistance for photography projects, whether new or in progress.
Benefits of Women Photograph Project Grants
Following are the details of the grants:
- Successful applicants will receive project grants of $5,000 each, generously provided by MPB.
- Winners can utilize the funding to cover various expenses for producing new photographic work, including reporting costs, creative fees, and other project-related expenditures.
- You cannot utilize the grant to support the production of books, exhibitions, workshops, or other secondary materials.
Women Photograph Project Grants Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Submission is open to women, nonbinary, transgender, and intersex documentary photographers of any nationality.
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Women Photograph, which prioritizes inclusivity and support for photographers from diverse backgrounds.
- No membership with Women Photograph is required to apply.
- Submission is free of cost
- Applicants may submit only one entry per open call.
- Applications must be in English, but translations using services like Google Translate are accepted.
- There are no restrictions on the type of camera equipment used.
- Grantees will retain full ownership of their completed work.

- Completed grant application form
- Project proposal detailing the photography project
- Portfolio of previous work
- CV or resume
- Any additional supporting materials as deemed necessary
Selection Process
Following are the selection process details:
- To be determined, the judging panel will review and evaluate all submitted applications.
- Selection criteria may include the quality and originality of the proposed project, the applicant’s previous work, and their potential to contribute meaningfully to visual journalism.
