About Women PeaceMakers Fellowship program

The Women PeaceMakers Fellowship program has been held by the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (Kroc IPJ) at the University of San Diego‘s Kroc School since 2002. With an emphasis on gender, peace, and conflict, the Fellowship provides a rare chance for peacebuilders to participate in a cycle of learning, practice, research, and engagement that fortifies peacebuilding alliances.
Impactful partnerships between international partner organizations and peacebuilders from communities affected by conflict are facilitated by the Women PeaceMakers Fellowship. Additionally, the Fellows co-author studies aimed at influencing the field of peacebuilding and highlighting best practices in peacebuilding conception and execution.
Objectives:
- Together with the Kroc School team and other Fellows, gain knowledge.
- Learn fresh perspectives, abilities, and creative peacebuilding strategies.
- Enlarge their networks for professional peacebuilding.
- Promote important research on peacebuilding that aims to influence practice and policy.
Benefits of Women PeaceMakers Fellowship program
- In exchange for their participation in the program, fellows will earn a stipend of $15,000 USD plus expenses.
- Fellows will join the Women Waging Peace network, which has over 1,000 members, after completing the Fellowship. Members of the Kroc IPJ-based network have a number of advantages.
Women PeaceMakers Fellowship program Requirements
- You are welcome to apply if you identify as a peacebuilder who works to break cycles of violence by emphasizing gender, peace, and conflict.
- A fellowship is open to individuals of all gender identities, including transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals.
- The Women PeaceMakers Fellowship program does not consider sex, gender, or any other protected status as part of the application and selection process.
- Applicants may come from any country, as long as they will be able to travel to the United States for the residency.
- In order to actively participate in Fellowship activities, applicants must speak enough English and have at least five years of experience working in peacebuilding.
In order to apply, you must:
- Give your basic contact and personal details.
- Answer a few brief open-ended questions about their background and areas of interest in research, their experience or interest in conducting research, and why they are interested in the Fellowship.
- Send in a brief proposal for research.
- Send in your resume.
- Send in two recommendation letters.
- Be prepared to share their knowledge and experiences with the Kroc IPJ team and the general public, as well as to take part in public activities.
- Possess the English language proficiency necessary to share experiences at public events, take part in research sessions, and engage in cohort meetings.
