About Wim Duisenberg Research Fellowship of European Central Bank (ECB)
Opportunity Details
Leading worldwide researchers with great publications and a Ph.D. can apply for this fellowship. Fellows will conduct economic research at the ECB’s Directorate General Research in Frankfurt for two to six months in 2025. The Wim Duisenberg Research Fellowship’s principal goals are as follows:
- Promote policy-relevant research that meets the highest academic standards;
- Exposure of ECB researchers to recent economic research advances;
- Help fellows acquire insight into the ECB’s policy-making environment.
The fellows plan to write a research paper for an internal seminar presentation at ECB. In addition, the Bank will publish the research papers in the ECB’s Working Paper Series. Successful candidates will be paid monthly in accordance with the seniority level of the given profile.

- International candidates must have a Ph.D. from a prestigious university and demonstrate an outstanding publishing record in top academic journals.
Proposal Selection Criteria
For this purpose of selection, the jury panel will evaluate all proposals based on the following elements:
- The planned research proposal that the applicant intends to develop.
- The level of the candidate’s skill and experience relevant to the assignment, as indicated by their CV.
- Excellent publication record in the relevant research area, as well as experience teaching and supervising in the university.
- The jury panel will evaluate all of these aspects equally.
