Interns must have completed at least three years of full-time studies in a relevant field (e.g., IT, Computer Science, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences) and be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated (within six months) from a university program leading to a formal qualification.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Terms of reference
Under the supervision of the Learning Technology Officer, the intern will support various tasks that enhance the functionality, adoption, and user experience of the LXP across WHO Academy programs.
Specific responsibilities include:
- LXP Support: Assisting with the internal use of the LXP, including supporting course setup, migration, and hosting activities.
- Technical Unit Support: Providing support and troubleshooting for WHO Technical Units and their external suppliers, including basic LXP training, content integration guidance, and support for engagement tools.
- Research and Documentation: Conducting web research, collecting data on learning platform best practices, and supporting documentation of LXP use cases and user feedback.
- Data and Analytics: Assisting in analyzing user data from the LXP to identify engagement trends, usage patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Event Support: Supporting the organization and coordination of workshops, meetings, or training sessions related to the LXP and digital learning technology.
Learning objectives
The purpose of the WHO Internship Programme is to provide an enriching learning experience for students and recent graduates. The Learning Objectives outlined within each internship vacancy are a key component of the programme.
Within this internship, the intern will:
- Gain practical experience in supporting a global Learning Experience Platform (LXP) in a large international organization.
- Understand the goals and objectives of WHO Academy’s Learning Technology and Innovation
- Develop skills in providing technical support to varied user groups, including assisting in troubleshooting and content integration.
- Understand the process of user data analysis and reporting within a digital learning environment.
- Enhance skills in technical documentation, report drafting, and presenting LXP best practices to stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Have completed the equivalent of three years of full-time studies in a relevant field, such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field, at a university or equivalent institution. at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment; AND be enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification (applicants who have already graduated may also qualify for consideration provided that they apply to the internship within six months after completion of their formal qualification).

In addition, interns need to be familiar with commonly used computer programmes, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of specialized computer programmes, for example, statistical software such as XLStat may be an advantage.
Experience
- Experience in research and/or in drafting reports
- Experience with digital learning platforms, especially familiarity with edX or similar Learning Management Systems (LMS), is highly desirable
- Academic or hands-on experience in supporting digital course setup, platform user support, or troubleshooting
- Experience in basic data analysis, including compiling usage metrics and learner engagement data, is an advantage
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing tasks like data collection, document organization, or content formatting.
Languages
Essential: Expert knowledge of English.
Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of French or intermediate knowledge of other UN language.
