University of Strathclyde Mac Robertson Postgraduate Travel Scholarship 2023

The University of Strathclyde and the University of Glasgow jointly offer the Mac Robertson Postgraduate Travel Scholarship to provide funding for postgraduate research students who are currently registered at the University of Strathclyde or University of Glasgow to undertake a course of study lasting between 2 months and 1 year at a centre of advanced study preferably out with the UK. The aim of the funding is to enrich and further the award-holder's academic experience and research achievements.

The scholarship will be valid for travel up to 1 year from the date of the Selection Panel meeting in June 2023 for travel commencing between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024, unless otherwise agreed. Placements that are already underway will not be funded. The Mac Robertson Postgraduate Travel Scholarship will comprise a contribution towards:

Accommodation
Travel expenses
Visa expenses
Local travel during a research trip
Subsistence
Tuition fees during a research trip
Other expenses as approved by the selection committee.

University of Strathclyde Mac Robertson Postgraduate Travel Scholarship Requirements

Applicants to the Mac Robertson Travel Scholarship should show how their research is relevant to both the University of Glasgow and Strathclyde University and how it may contribute to further collaborative research between these two universities.
The Scholarship is open to students from all academic disciplines.
Students who have already submitted or will have submitted before or during the planned travel are ineligible to apply.

Application Date and Process

Interested and qualified? Go to University of Strathclyde on frontdoor.spa.gla.ac.uk to apply

Applications should be completed using the online application form on the University of Glasgow application portal.

Letters or emails confirming your place at the host institution should be submitted to [email protected] as a single combined PDF document using the email subject line "Postgraduate Travel Scholarships <First Name Surname>, <Application Reference>".

The deadline to submit the application form and letter/ email confirming your place at the host institution is 5.00pm, Wednesday 31st May 2023.

You should receive your Application Reference when you submit your application on the University of Glasgow application portal. Please note that you will be asked to provide the details (including the university email address) of your supervisor. When an application is submitted, the nominated supervisor will receive an e-mail request to provide a Supervisor Statement of Support. Your application will NOT be considered by the selection committee without the Supervisor Statement of Support.

All applicants will be notified as to the outcome of their application shortly after the selection committee has been held during June 2023.
