About University of Dundee Alumni Scholarship

Opportunity Details

Applicants seeking enrollment in a full (180 credit) postgraduate taught course that starts in September 2025 are eligible for this opportunity. Also, those with an immediate family member who has previously pursued a full undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Dundee can apply. In this context, immediate family members encompass siblings, children, parents, and spouses.

Benefits of University of Dundee Alumni Scholarship

This Scholarship’s value varies depending on your fee status:

  • The Scholarship is worth GBP 3,000 for international applicants and is valid for only one year.
  • The Scholarship is worth GBP 1,500 for home, EU, and RUK applicants and is valid for only one year.

The Scholarship applies to the applicant’s tuition fees, decreasing the amount owed to the University. This Scholarship is not a direct payment and cannot be increased under any circumstances.

If this Scholarship is applied when the applicant has paid their entire tuition fee (pre-matriculation) or after they have matriculated and paid their full tuition fee, the scholarship value can be:

  • Refunded after enrollment at the University of Dundee. It will be completed within three weeks of matriculation.
  • Credited to the applicant’s University Accommodation account.

Additional requirements

The University of Dundee provides up to £3,000 for Alumni Students. If you meet the following criteria, then you will be eligible to receive the scholarship:

  • Have applied to study a full (180 credit) postgraduate taught course  
  • Your course starts in September 2025.
  • Have graduated from the University of Dundee, having previously completed a full undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree

Visiting students: if you have studied at the UoD on an Exchange or Study Abroad route for a minimum of 1 semester, you may be eligible for the Alumni scholarship.

If you are studying a full (180 credit) postgraduate course on a part-time basis, you may be eligible for the Alumni scholarship. For full eligibility criteria please see the below 'Key Facts' document. 

If you are not a direct graduate of the University of Dundee, but someone in your immediate family is, then you are also eligible for this Scholarship. If you meet the following criteria, then you will be eligible to apply for this scholarship:

  • Have applied to study a full (180 credit) postgraduate taught course.
  • Your course starts in September 2025.
  • Have an immediate family member who has studied at the University of Dundee, having completed a full undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree. Immediate family members include Siblings, Children, Parents and Spouses.

Where eligible, this scholarship can be combined with one of the following scholarships: 

  • Global Excellence or
  • Global Citizenship or
  • Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships (one region only)

Only one Alumni award can be awarded, either the direct graduate award or family award.

Further information

If you are returning to study

  • an Undergraduate course
  • a Postgraduate taught course which is less than 180 credits
  • a Distance Learning course
  • a PhD course

then unfortunately you are not eligible. 

If you have previously completed a research placement/internship at the University of Dundee (minimum 3 months), or have completed a full year of study through the International College Dundee, you may be eligible for the Alumni scholarship. Please see attached documents for full eligibility criteria.

The value of this scholarship varies depending on your fee status: 

  • For Home and RUK applicants the value of the scholarship is £1,500 GBP, for 1 year only
  • For International applicants, the value of the scholarship is £3,000 GBP, for 1 year only.

 

 

Application Date and Process

There is no separate application form for this scholarship. You must apply to study an eligible course at the University of Dundee first and your eligibility will be assessed as part of your course application.

With permission from your family member, please send us any relevant documentation relating to their study at Dundee, alongside evidence of your family connection.
