With a presence in nearly 600 field locations worldwide, IOM assists governments in managing migration flows, ensuring safe and orderly migration. To support its mandate, IOM requires diverse professionals from various backgrounds. However, recognizing the challenges some face in accessing internships due to location or personal circumstances, IOM launched the Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme.
Programme Overview The Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme aims to address imbalances by providing financial support for accommodation, living expenses, travel, and visa costs for selected interns. These internships, spanning six months, are highly competitive, typically involving online tests and interviews. Since its inception in 2018, the programme has offered between 15 to 20 positions annually, targeting talented individuals from under-represented groups.
2024 Programme Focus In 2024, IOM’s Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme emphasizes two components:
The programme offers a range of internship opportunities for graduates across various offices, including roles in talent management, information technology, security, legal, and more. Positions are available in locations such as Geneva, Bangkok, Nairobi, Valencia, Panama City, Rabat, Warsaw, Skopje, and home-based support for offices in Port Moresby, Dakar, and Bogotá.
