As part of the French Government Scholarship Programme, the SSHN scholarship is designed to foster higher education and research collaboration between Nigeria and France. Following the success of the 2023 edition, where seven Nigerian researchers benefited from this initiative, the 2024 iteration aims to extend its support to an even broader array of scholars.

• Round-trip airfare to and from France, removing the burden of travel expenses.
• A monthly allowance to cover living expenses, ensuring that scholars can fully focus on their research without financial worries.
• Health and repatriation insurance, providing peace of mind regarding health and safety during the stay.
• Assistance with accommodation arrangements through Campus France Paris, with the cost conveniently deducted from the grant, simplifying the logistical aspects of the stay.

Embassy of France in Nigeria High-Level Research Stay (SSHN) Scholarship Requirements

The SSHN scholarship is open to a diverse group of applicants, with specific eligibility requirements set to ensure that the scholarship benefits those most in need of this opportunity:
• Applicants must hold a tenure position in either a public or private higher education institution or a scientific research laboratory accredited by the National Universities Commission.
• Both PhD students and PhD holders are eligible to apply, with the distinction that those who obtained their doctorate more than 5 years ago are classified as
"confirmed researchers" while recent graduates within the last 5 years are considered "young researchers."
• The scholarship is available for mobilities lasting from 2 to 4 weeks, scheduled between September 15 and December 15, 2024, contingent upon the French host institution's ability to accommodate the grantee.
