About The Falling Walls Global International Competition
Falling Walls introduces the most recent scientific discoveries to a diverse audience from all walks of life, promoting discussion about science and creativity. They are looking forward to the Falling Walls Science Conference 2024 to recognize those working on these topics.
The goal is to recognize noteworthy and groundbreaking research activities in each category. Through “breakthrough research,” they explore activities that address global challenges and transmit scientific information in creative ways. They encourage an interdisciplinary approach to science.
They invite nominations from leading academic institutions, universities, research organizations, corporations, private and public research institutes, academies, research funders, foundations, and individuals.
Categories
- Life Sciences: Biology, neuroscience, and zoology are all examples of scientific disciplines that look into life and organisms.
- Physical Sciences: The study of natural occurrences in chemistry, physics, astronomy, and the earth’s atmosphere and space.
- Engineering and Technology: The application of science and math in practical fields such as information technology, mechanical engineering, and artificial intelligence.
- Social Sciences & Humanities: The framework and operations of human society as well as the interpersonal interactions of its members, including politics, economics, and philosophy.
- Art & Science: Artists whose works of art highlight the wonders of scientific discoveries or illuminate societal challenges or natural occurrences through their inspiration and influence from science.
- Science Start-ups (Falling Walls Venture): Creative startups that have successfully adapted cutting-edge scientific concepts into viable commercial plans.
- Science Engagement (Falling Walls Engage): Initiatives for participatory scientific interaction that foster learning from one another and help both science and society.
- New in 2024: Women’s Impact Award (Female Science Talents): Outstanding multidisciplinary research and involvement that supports the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, diversity in science and academia, and gender equality.Falling Walls Female Science Talents accepts entries from cis and trans women, genderqueer individuals, and non-binary persons, and adopts an inclusive definition of women.

To nominate yourself, kindly go through the nomination process on their web platform. An email confirming your nomination will be sent to you so you can provide further information about your initiative.
Emerging Talents: You may apply directly to a worldwide Falling Walls Lab by going here if you’re interested in taking part in the Emerging Talents category (Falling Walls Lab) for students and early-career professionals.
Science Start-ups: It wouldn’t be possible to nominate oneself. A nominating institution, such as a university or research organization, must support startups.
Science Engagement: Using your own project, you may apply directly.
Women’s Impact Award: You have the option to submit immediately with your own project in addition to recommending someone else. To apply, kindly complete the online application process on our platform. An email will be sent to you to confirm your application.

The Falling Walls Global International Competition Requirments
- You can submit an application with your own research or recommend exceptional research.
- Their objective is to identify outstanding and innovative research initiatives throughout the several categories. In light of current “breakthrough research,” they are especially searching for initiatives that tackle world issues and creatively convey scientific information. They support a scientific method that is multidisciplinary.
- Leading academic institutions, universities, research organizations, businesses, academies, private and public research centers, research funders, foundations, and people are invited to submit proposals for the creative minds behind the newest scientific discoveries and noteworthy initiatives.
Application Date and Process
Applications for the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year will be accepted from March 1 through May 1, 2024. You must register through the application website in order to submit an application.
