Opportunity Details
Bard College Berlin is proud to award two cash prizes to students who identify as refugees, asylum seekers, displaced persons or stateless persons.
Applicants must be aged 18 and above.
Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Bard College Berlin.
All entries should be in English (if this is a barrier, but you meet all other criteria, please contact us to discuss).
Applicants must be refugees, asylum-seekers, internally displaced persons or stateless persons.
To help you determine if this is/isn’t you, we use UNHCR definitions which include:
Refugees are persons fleeing armed conflict or persecution.
An asylum-seeker is someone whose request for sanctuary has yet to be processed.
Internally displaced persons are persons or groups of persons who have been forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of or in order to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights or natural or human-made disasters, and who have not crossed an internationally recognized state border.
A stateless person is a person who is not considered as a national by any State under the operation of its law.
Applicants will be asked to submit:
A 1,000-word personal statement about your life and academic experience, as well as why this scholarship might benefit you.
One piece of academic writing. This can be coursework, a dissertation, an article, or anything - it is simply so that we can gauge your academic experience.
Please email your completed submission to: [email protected]
