Opportunity Details
The Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) supports brief research attachments for the best international students at A*STAR, giving students the exceptional chance to experience the dynamic scientific environment in A*STAR Research Institutes and Consortia and work with eminent and internationally renowned researchers. And this award is open for students who are pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees.
Timeline and Duration of this Pre-Graduate Studies
Keep the following minimum attachment duration in mind for all A*STAR student attachments:
1) ARAP – Minimum 1 year, up to a maximum of 2 years
2) SIPGA – Minimum 4 months, up to a maximum of 5 months
3) All other student attachments – Minimum 2 months
Research Areas:
SIPGA research fields are broadly classified into four groups:
- Computing and Information Sciences (CIT),
- Engineering and Technology (E&T)
- Biomedical Sciences (BMS), and
- Physical Sciences (PS)

- As research becomes more interdisciplinary, they encourage you to consider projects in all areas, regardless of your previous research experience.

Benefits of Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) For International Students
The following is offered to awardees during their assignment in Singapore:
• Monthly stipend of $2,000.
• Students should summarize their experience and research project which is to be submitted to A*GA three weeks before the conclusion of the program.
Criteria:
- Students earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computing and information science, biomedical science, physical science, or engineering-related subjects can apply for two- to six-month internships.
- Open to foreign third and fourth-year undergraduate and master’s students from overseas universities in STEM disciplines.
- Obtained/is on pace to get at least a Second-Class (Upper) Honors or equivalent for bachelor’s degree.
- Students must remain matriculated at their home university during the attachment period.
- Proficient in written and spoken English, with a strong interest in research careers.
- The eligibility criteria is subject to change and could be based on institutions in Singapore.

Documents Requirement:
- Copy of passport.
- Complete academic transcripts for your bachelor’s and/or master’s (if relevant) degrees. Transcripts must be translated if the originals are not in English.
