- A monthly grant of 1,450 EUR.

Rosa Luxemburg Foundation International PhD Scholarship Requirements
All applicants must read the following requirements before applying for the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation International PhD Scholarship:
- Both resident and foreign doctoral students can apply for scholarships in all disciplines except medical degrees.
- Requirements include outstanding academic performance during undergraduate studies and proof of social engagement aligned with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation’s values.
- Candidates can only apply for one scholarship at a time.
- German doctoral students enrolled in public or accredited institutions in Germany, the EU, or Switzerland, and foreign postgraduate students in similar programs in Germany are eligible.
- International students planning extended research stays outside Germany during their doctoral studies are also eligible.
- Admission to a doctoral program at a state or state-recognized higher education institution in Germany
- Proof of proficiency in German at B2 level
- Outstanding academic performance during undergraduate studies
- Commitment to the values of social justice and democratic socialism
- Foreign Ph.D. students enrolled in a public or publicly accredited German institution of higher education or conducting research in Germany are eligible.
Application Date and Process
Foreign doctoral students are only eligible for the research scholarship if they have been accepted to write their dissertation at a German institution of higher learning (Promotionszulassung) or are conducting research in Germany as part of their dissertation.
