Roots Launches Micro-grants Program to Support Climate Justice Initiatives in the Global South: Apply Now for grants of up to $10,000 USD.

Roots is extending micro-grant support for projects, initiatives, research, or campaigns advocating for climate justice through an intersectional approach. These initiatives should be rooted in strategies for radical systemic change and aim to engage new, receptive audiences. When evaluating applications, preference will be given to projects that embody some or all of the following characteristics:
- Community-driven approach: Originating from grassroots efforts at the local level, propelled by community involvement.
- Emphasis on radical system change: Demonstrating innovative strategies aimed at transformative, intersectional, and equitable solutions to address the root causes of the climate crisis.
- Amplification of Global South voices: Prioritizing campaigns that foster connections and elevate the perspectives of communities and activists from the Global South, with a focus on youth and frontline communities.
- Support for marginalized communities: Actively engaging and providing assistance to marginalized communities through various means such as sharing activist knowledge, organizing leadership workshops, and hosting climate-focused programs.
- Resource and capacity building: Aimed at enhancing the resources and skills of grassroots activists, including acquiring equipment, covering transportation costs, conducting research/training, and supporting campaign efforts.
- Promotion of intergenerational collaboration: Giving priority to initiatives that foster relationships across generations, aiming to bridge the intergenerational gap and reach audiences beyond existing echo chambers.
- Resilience: Emphasizing the well-being of members and building resilient structures within groups and communities.
Eligible Countries
Countries from the Global South I.e Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and South Asia are eligible to apply.
