The ORG Impact Awards (OIAs) honor outstanding individuals and organizations that use ORG domains to make positive impacts locally and globally. This annual event celebrates contributions across society and highlights those leveraging the Internet for transformative change.
ORG, a mission-driven organization, empowers and connects inspiring changemakers without charging submission fees for the ORG Impact Awards. Winners receive a donation and an opportunity to showcase their impactful work.
The ORG Impact Awards recognize the achievements of the ORG Community. Submissions are reviewed by a distinguished panel of leaders in the Internet, nonprofit, and marketing sectors.
Award Categories
The Impact Awards celebrate significant achievements within the ORG community. Seven award categories are open for nomination and judging as follows:
- Health and Healing: Honors a group or individual dedicated to delivering community health and wellness services, such as education and awareness, vaccine development, equitable distribution of medical supplies, and mental health resources.
- Quality Education for All: Honors an organization or individual for their commitment to ensuring that all children receive an education, regardless of race, gender, or financial condition.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: This award recognizes an organization or individual for their efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in society by developing policies, programs, and initiatives that address systemic difficulties and historical injustices.
- Environmental Stewardship: This award recognizes a group or individual that strives to tackle rising ecological concerns and encourages responsible consumption and environmental sustainability in communities worldwide.
- Hunger and Poverty: Recognizes an organization or individual who has made important achievements and innovations on a local, national, or global scale to eradicate hunger, alleviate poverty, and reduce resource inequities.
- Community Building: This award recognizes an organization or individual whose efforts have improved or changed the lives of those in the community served by the candidate, whether on a local, national, or global scale.
- Rising Star: By December 31, 2024, an individual under 25 who has made a significant effect in their community through leadership on a project, platform, task, or campaign will be recognized as a Rising Star.
- Year’s Outstanding Organization (ORG of the Year): This award recognizes an organization or individual for exceptional performance as indicated by outcomes and contributions to its sector, constituents, community, or society. This award is automatically given to the finalists in the other seven categories. PIR will choose the of the Year at its exclusive discretion.
Benefits of .ORG Impact Awards 2024 in US
Seven award categories will be selected through a nomination and judging process. The finalists will receive an invitation to an in-person event on October 8, 2024, in Washington, D.C., to celebrate the ORG community’s achievements and announce category winners and the ORG of the Year. Each finalist receives two round-trip economy tickets (up to USD 2,000) and two nights of accommodations.
Winners in each category of the Impact Awards can direct a monetary donation to a charity of their choice:
- .ORG of the Year: USD 40,000
- Category Winners: USD 10,000
- Non-winning Finalists: USD 2,500
Finalists also receive free advertising, promotional materials, custom trophies for winners, and potential future marketing opportunities.
.ORG Impact Awards 2024 in US Requirements
Individuals and Organizations must meet these requirements:
- Organizations must have a website hosted on the.ORG domain.
- Individual nominees must have a role at an organization with a . ORG domain website.
- The nominee must be the registrant or affiliated with the registrant of a second-level.ORG domain name.
- The website URL must resolve to a . ORG domain name.
- Activities must have occurred between May 1, 2023, and May 1, 2024, with meaningful activity within this period.
- Organizations and individuals can submit to multiple award categories with original submissions for each.
- Nominators must be at least 18 years old and have permission to nominate.
- Nominees under 18 need a consent form signed by a parent or guardian if they qualify as finalists.
- Individuals or entities from Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, or Crimea cannot nominate or be nominees.
- Employees of the Public Interest Registry and their immediate family and household members are not eligible to nominate or be nominees.
Nomination Requirements
Each award entry can include up to 5 supporting documents in URL, PDF, Microsoft Office, and most photo/video formats, max 5MB:
- Video content should be shared as a public link (e.g., YouTube or Vimeo).
- One supporting document is required per nomination, regardless of category.
- Examples of supporting materials are project plans, letters to stakeholders, community testimonials, marketing videos, before-and-after photos, web page links, and annual or project recap reports.
- Do not include confidential information unless redacted.
- Include referenced items in your summary responses as supporting documents.
- Ensure all submissions are legible; unreadable content will not be considered.
Application Date and Process
- All Impact Awards submissions must be completed online. Click on the link to the application website to nominate.
- Each Award Category requires responses to specific prompting questions for consistent evaluation.
- Each entry must include at least one supporting document, with a maximum of five accepted.
- Required summary responses for Health and Healing, Quality Education for All, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Environmental Stewardship, Hunger and Poverty, and Community Building categories:

- Approach taken
- Outcome and testimonials
- Efforts, contributions, and leadership impact
- Required summary responses for the Rising Star category:
