The Minority Serving Cyberinfrastruture Consortium (MS-CC) Undergraduate Summer Internship in Climate and Data Science is a 10-week paid internship program that will be hosted at Fisk University in partnership with Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.

About MS-CC Undergraduate Summer Internship

Opportunity Details

The internship will provide students with the opportunity to work with faculty mentors to apply computational and data-intensive approaches to climate science research. The first week of the program will provide in-person training and the remaining nine (9) weeks will include a combination of in-person and virtual mentorship, while working on the Fisk campus with other interns on a research project. At the conclusion of the internship program, students will present posters on their team research projects at one or more scientific conferences and/or events.

Benefits of MS-CC Undergraduate Summer Internship

  • This internship will pay a $7,000 stipend over the duration of 10-weeks, in addition to travel to the internship, housing and meals, and field trips, and other opportunities to engage with experts in climate science.

MS-CC Undergraduate Summer Internship Requirements

  • Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in a science degree program with application (or potential application) in climate science.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in quantitative research for climate science and a willingness to learn data science.
  • Well-qualified applicants must be able to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Programming experience and prior research experience is valuable for this program but not required.
  • Preference will be given to rising Juniors and Seniors at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs).
