About METI Japanese Internship Program 2024

Opportunity Details

The METI internship program will recruit 60 interns from OECD/DAC member nationsthis year (the nations are listed below). By undertaking an internship in Japan, people from underdeveloped nations can learn business and engineering methods overseas in a Japanese firm, receive experience and skills from Japanese companies, and be groomed as global leaders. Japan may be able to operate inside its own borders.

Benefits of METI Japanese Internship Program 2024

It will cover the following:

  • Pre-training for interns: Overview of the project, participation process, precautions, key points, and Japanese work qualifications.
  • Assistance in obtaining a visa for Japan.
  • Arrangement of round-trip airline tickets.
  • Arrangement of accommodation.
  • The company will provide the necessary PCs for the internship and offline courses.
  • Activity support costs based on internship days: ¥3,000 per day for offline courses, equivalent to ¥1,000 per day for online courses.
  • Internship insurance.

METI Japanese Internship Program 2024 Requirements

Applicants must have the following:

  • Interns should agree with the project’s purpose and promote the globalization of Japanese companies
  • Hold citizenship of applicable countries/regions
  • have proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N3 or higher) or English
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 40 as of Aug 1, 2024
  • Students must provide a certificate of enrollment and a letter of recommendation from their university or other institution.
  • Graduates must provide a certificate of graduation and a letter of recommendation from a previous university or other institution.
  • Submit various qualification certificates (IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, CEFR, JLPT, etc.)
  • Dedicate exclusively to training & internship
  • Meet company-specific conditions
  • Not participating in the program between FY2016-FY2023

Expectations and Responsibilities

Following are the highlights of your responsibilities and activities:

  • Develop an internship plan with the manager: Define the intern’s role, goals, etc.
  • Participate in pre-training and wrap-up presentation sessions.
  • Ensure own safety and health; maintain regular contact with program office and host company.
  • Submit required documents, notifications, and reports before, during, and after the internship.
  • Consider Japanese language classes if offered a permanent position.
  • Maintain appropriate behavior as a recipient of Japanese government funds.

Note: Internship offers work experience, not employment.
