The Child Rights and Community Institute Program (CRIP), an initiative of the Community Children’s Rights Institute (CRI), with support from the McArthur Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people as advocates for children’s rights.
This fellowship aims to equip individuals with the knowledge, tools, and skills necessary to effectively advocate for the rights of disadvantaged children and drive sustainable community development. CRIP is specifically designed for those passionate about addressing the inequalities faced by children as a result of eroded accountability in child protection services.
Program Highlights
- Geopolitical Focus: Fellows from all geopolitical zones of Nigeria will be selected, ensuring diverse representation from different regions.
- Community Problem Solving: Fellows will come into the program with one specific issue affecting children in their community. They will be trained to use advocacy and mobilization skills to develop solutions and bring these issues to policy discussions.
- Virtual Learning: Fellowship orientations will occur virtually over eight weeks via a designated online learning platform, providing flexible access to participants from different areas.
- Project Development: Throughout the fellowship, CRI will collaborate with fellows to develop their projects, guiding them from the idea stage to policy action.
- Internship Opportunity: The most successful fellows, those who have solved critical problems or initiated effective actions, will be offered an internship,providing further practical experience.
- Policy Drafting: Fellows will work on creating policy drafts addressing key children’s rights issues in their communities. These drafts can then be presented to Federal or State governments for potential implementation.

- Applicants must reside in Nigeria throughout the program.
- Applicants must be within 18-35 years.
- Applicants should have a passion for child rights advocacy and social protection.
- Strong leadership and communication skills are required.
Selection Process
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to children’s rights and rural development. Additionally, applicants must outline a specific problem they aim to solve within their community.
