Japan Education Pathways Scholarship for Refugee Students Requirements
What are the requirements for applying for the EPS?
- Applicants must be displaced students who have relocated to Japan through an education pathways program administered by Pathways Japan or are attending a partner language school of Pathways Japan.
- Must be 25 or younger at enrollment (April 1, 2025).
- Be single with no dependents.
- Japanese language proficiency is equivalent to JLPT N3 level or higher.
- Open to all nationalities.
Required Documents
Please prepare and submit these documents:
- Online application form (available from September 1 to October 1, 2024)
- Proof of high school completion (diploma and English translation)
- High school transcript (last three years, with English translation if needed)
- National/standardized examination results
- Two recommendation letters from high school teachers or college/university faculty members
- English proficiency test score (TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo English Test 110)
- Personal statement in English (500-600 words)
- Short essay on a current issue in English (400-500 words)
