Nigeria's youth population represents over 60% of the total population, making them the nation's most valuable resource. However, young Nigerians face significant challenges, including limited access to quality education, high unemployment, and inadequate entrepreneurial support. Without targeted policies, Nigeria risks losing its youth potential.
The topic of this year's ITET Gem essay competition is "A Youth-Focused Policy for Maximizing Nigeria's Potential." Essay entries should be between 500 and 750 words and should include:
- A description of a major challenge Nigerian youth face today.
- A detailed proposal of a policy that directly addresses this challenge.
- A discussion on how the policy can be implemented effectively.
- An analysis of the potential impact of the policy on Nigerian youth and the country's future.

ITET Gem Essay Competition Requirements
- Be Nigerian and reside in Nigeria.
- Be below 18 years of age at the time of submission.
- Be reachable by phone (either their own or a guardian's number). If a student does not have a phone, the alternate contact will be utilized.
- Have access to an email account for submission.
- Be a registered SSS1, SSS2, or SSS3 student in a recognized secondary school.
Application Date and Process
To apply for the ITET Gem Essay Competition,
- Submit a 500-750 word essay on the topic "A Youth-Focused Policy for Maximizing Nigeria's Potential."
- Email your essay to [email protected] on or before May 19, 2025 at 11:59 PM (West
African Time/Nigerian Time).
- Essay must be in Microsoft word format. Entries not in this format and submitted through other channels will not be accepted.
