As a global platform for youth-led innovation, NewGen facilitates the creation and execution of youth-led solutions in the climate and sustainable energy sectors.
The program’s objective is to give young people the resources, information, and encouragement they need to create and carry out their ideas. IRENA is now able to provide growth and business acceleration support to youth-led start-ups, scale-ups, and growth companies.
In order to help successful participants bring their ideas to market, IRENA will work closely with its partners to connect them with business networks, financial opportunities, and other resources.
Benefits of IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator Programme
The program’s objectives are to increase youth climate and sustainable energy impact, scale business impact, and assist them in securing funding to carry out their business plans and solutions. These are achieved through a combination of market/investor linkages, training, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing activities. Participants in the NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator will gain:
- Webinars, workshops, and committed IRENA expert mentoring
- Availability of pitching occasions and investment matching
- Dedicated workshop for forecasting climate impact
- Customized acceleration program for climate technology and renewable energy
IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator Programme Requirements
- Young individuals from all over the world between the ages of 18 and 35 are welcome to apply.
- The start-up’s founders must be at least 18 to 35 years old.
- The following categories should contain the primary business line of a startup:
- Technologies for renewable energy: geothermal, solar, wind, hydropower, green hydrogen, and bioenergy
- Technologies for climate adaptation (water security, resource efficiency, livestock, agriculture and irrigation, and flood protection)
- Transportation, decarbonization, circular economies, energy efficiency, energy transformation, and smart grids are examples of climate mitigation technology.
- A minimum of two founders of start-ups dedicate 16 hours per month to attending accelerator sessions.
- By participating in the selection process, applicants warrant that the paperwork they have provided is an original work developed only by them and does not violate any third party’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights.
- IRENA is now able to provide growth and business acceleration support to youth-led start-ups, scale-ups, and growth companies.
- A maximum of thirty young innovators and entrepreneurs who are driven to interact with the renewable energy and climate technology markets through concepts, solutions, or innovative inventions in their respective local, regional, or international communities will be chosen from applications for the second edition of the IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator program.
