This program is designed for applied and open research, which aims to address practical issues and should be freely available to the scientific community through open publication. If a responsible agency certifies that a research study involving human or animal subjects is ethical and compliant with local law, the Foundation will sponsor it. The project’s principal investigator is in charge of obtaining these certificates.

Benefits of Internet Society Foundation Research Grant Program
The initiative offers two funding tiers:
- Up to US$200,000 in financing may be applied for by independent researchers. Grants will be given directly to those who are designated as the project’s primary investigators, and they will be in charge of managing the grants for the duration of their duration, including fulfilling all reporting obligations.
- Institutions and organizations are eligible to apply for financing up to $500,000. Subject to funding for the current fiscal year, one or more grants are expected in each of thematic areas.

Internet Society Foundation Research Grant Program Requirements
- A postgraduate research degree (PhD, Masters), peer-reviewed publications, patents, and academic or independently published work in the pertinent field are all requirements for independent researchers.
- Institutions dedicated to public research ought to be 501c3 or comparable, and their goals ought to coincide with the Foundation’s. Institutions that are privately owned are not eligible to receive funds.
- These are the additional qualifying standardsthat apply to all Foundation grants. Every applicant needs to confirm that they fulfill these fundamental prerequisites.
- Applications from underrepresented groups in the field of research are strongly welcomed.
Selection Criteria:
It is recommended that researchers submit a complete application to have it evaluated by the impartial External Reviewers. The following standards will be used to choose the final submissions:
- Does the research align with one of the thematic areas of the Foundation?
- Is this study a novel?
- Is the research useful and able to guide choices?
- Is there collaboration in the research?
- Is the methodology of the research intersectional?

Application Date and Process
- It is necessary for applicants to use Fluxx (see link below) to submit their applications. Please be aware that after making an account, the registration process may take up to two days to finish. We advise you to create an account on the Fluxx portal as soon as possible.
- Staff members examine applications to make sure that proposals meet eligibility requirements and topic areas. Staff will use the applicant’s provided contact information to get in touch with them if they have any questions.
- The proposals that are in line will go to the next round, where they will be examined by impartial external reviewers. The Program Officer receives recommendations from the External Reviewers regarding which bids should be funded. Ultimately, the Program Officer works with the chosen partners to review, negotiate, and decide which grants to issue. It will take roughly two months to complete the process.
- They have two separate registration forms this year: one for individuals and one for organizations and universities.
