Applications are now open for the 2024 ICFJ/WHO Road Safety Reporting Competition. The Road Safety Reporting Competition and Awards aims to help journalists produce stories that shine a light on road crash deaths and injuries in some of the hardest-hit countries.
Opportunity Details
According to the World Health Organization WHO, nearly 1.2 million people are killed in road traffic crashes each year – more than 2 every minute – representing the leading global cause of death among children and young adults aged 5 – 29. The Road Safety Reporting Competition and Awards are implemented through ICFJ, supported by the FIA Foundation Richard Stanley Memorial Grant and the WHO through funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies, to raise awareness and spur dialogue around critical, yet under-reported, road safety issues.
Prizes will be awarded to journalists to support and contribute to the advancement of their work on road safety.
