Since its inception in 2005, the Google Summer of Code program has connected over 18,000 students with 746 open source organizations with the help of over 17,000 mentors.
Eligible Nations: All countries except Russia, Belarus, or the Donetsk People’s Republic (“DNR”) and the Luhansk People’s Republic (“LNR”)
Program Length: Large projects should take around 350 hours, while medium-sized projects should take about 175 hours.
The time allotted to execute a project might be 10 to 22 weeks.

Google Summer of Code (GSoC) Program for Software Development Enthusiasts Requirments
- When you register, you must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be legally permitted to work in the country where you reside during the program.
- You must be a newbie to open source.
- You have not previously been selected as a GSoC Student in GSoC. (Only students who passed their GSoC in 2020 or 2021 can apply again in 2022.)
- You must live in a nation that the US does not currently have a restriction on.
Application Date and Process
- Submit proof of enrollment in an accredited university program.
- Identify which organization(s) you want to apply to (you can apply to up to)
- Submit a written application through the program site to the organization(s) with which you are applying to be a GSoC contributor for GSoC 2024.
