Applications are open for the 2024 Global Schools Advocates Program. This global initiative is designed for educators and school leaders who aim to integrate sustainable development themes into their classrooms.
Opportunity Details
Through this program, educators receive training, resources, and community support to promote education for sustainable development (ESD) in their schools.
The Global Schools Advocates Program supports pre-primary, primary, and secondary school educators and leaders as they work to integrate sustainable development into classrooms and schools.
Training: Advocates complete a training program to enhance their understanding of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The training introduces educators to Sustainable Development Goals and ways to incorporate ESD into their teaching. Upon completion, educators earn the Global Schools Advocate title and toolkit, starting their ESD integration journey. Training is offered online in an asynchronous format, with optional live lectures, and takes about 10-15 hours.
Introduce ESD to School Community:Advocates present ESD to their students, department, and school leadership. They conduct workshops on ESD for other teachers, sharing resources and inspiring them to get involved. Advocates adapt the program to fit their community context.
Integrate ESD in the School Community:Using the Advocate Toolkit, lesson plans, and activity guides, Advocates implement ESD lessons and activities in classrooms or entire school communities. With support from the program team, advocates can tailor the program to their needs.
Share with the World Advocates, engage with mentors, and attend monthly professional development sessions to share insights and ideas with other educators. They share the lessons learned with the Global Schools Program team and the wider community.
