Benefits of Girl Up Scholarship Fund for Young Inspiring Girls and Women to Pursue Higher Education
- Girl Up will award $87,000 in scholarships this year to assist girls from low-income families in lessening their financial responsibilities, while also motivating them to seek higher education and become advocates for gender equality.
- At least 35 eligible girls will get $2500 each out of the total scholarship money. The recipients’ higher education institutions will get the monies directly to pay for their tuition.
Girl Up Scholarship Fund for Young Inspiring Girls and Women to Pursue Higher Education Requirements
- The scholarship fund is available to young ladies and girls worldwide, regardless of their ethnicity.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, candidates must be:
- A Girl Up participant (event goer, Club member, program recipient, etc.)
- At the time of selection, already enrolled in a 2-year, 4-year, or technical college (final-year high school students can also apply!).
Pursuing postsecondary education in the following field categories:
- Pursuing storytelling/communications, artistic endeavors, and/or related industries;
- Studying sports, athletics-related fields, or ideas to use sports as a platform for social change
- A STEM student is someone who studies science, technology, engineering, math, and/or related fields.
- Have no personal or business ties to any UN Foundation employees, nor do they have any other conflicts of interest with the organization
Required Documents
The candidate must compose the following four essays:
- Essay 1: Describe your upbringing in the community, how it shaped your beliefs, experiences, and goals for your schooling. Additionally, discuss the challenges you’ve encountered and how you overcame them;
- Could you explain how this scholarship will support your academic, professional, and personal objectives? And how—in no more than 250 words—can you promote gender equity through sports, STEM, or storytelling?
- In no more than 250 words, explain how you have helped the community where you have developed to promote gender parity.
- Provide a 500-word summary of your involvement in athletics, STEM, or storytelling, along with examples of how you have changed your community.
- Please describe any additional sponsorship you have received or gained for this academic year, if available (maximum 200);

- Leadership ability Community service and educational endeavors
- Career and educational objectives and obstacles
