About ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowships in Swiss
Opportunity Details
The ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) Fellowship supports incoming postdoctoral researchers at ETH Zurich. This program intends to foster young researchers who have already demonstrated scientific excellence in the early stages of their careers. Applications from candidates of both gender with all backgrounds are strongly encouraged.
Approximately 40-50% of fellows secure a professorship within a few years after the fellowship, highlighting its prestige and effectiveness in advancing academic careers.
To apply, candidates must be endorsed by an ETH Zurich professor willing to mentor them. Each professor may only support one candidate per evaluation round, emphasizing the importance of a strong mentor-mentee relationship. The proposed project should demonstrate synergies between the host group and the fellow, with priority given to applicants proposing their own projects. Collaboration between the applicant and mentor prior to the fellowship should be minimal.
ETH Fellowships last for two years and cannot be extended. With a competitive selection process, only a limited number of fellowships are available each year, resulting in a success rate of around 25% in recent rounds.
Encouraging diversity, applications from candidates of all genders and backgrounds are strongly encouraged. Monitoring success rates helps to mitigate potential biases in the selection process.
