The CRS International Development Fellows Program is a unique 12-month professional development opportunity that prepares aspiring leaders for success in various roles within CRS. Fellows work alongside experienced staff to address challenges developing countries face, from emergency responses to long-term development projects. Participants gain expertise in project management, resource planning, proposal development, and monitoring and evaluation.

CRS welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds who share its mission of providing relief to vulnerable communities. Fellows develop critical project and management skills and contribute to lifesaving work that makes a real difference. CRS Fellows Program Details

The Fellowship is a unique 12-month professional development opportunity, designed to prepare Fellows for success in a range of onward positions with CRS. The Fellowship is centered upon skill building in the following four areas:

Project Management:

  • Activity planning and implementation
  • Monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning
  • Resource or budget management
  • Reporting

Project Design:

  • Research, assessments, analysis
  • Participatory design
  • Results framework and theory of change
  • Proposal development

Systems and Operations:

  • Supply chain and logistics
  • Human Resources
  • Finance and Compliance
  • Safety, security, risk mitigation

Partnership:

  • Project planning
  • Program implementation
  • Capacity strengthening
  • Reflection and assessment

Benefits of CRS International Development Fellows Program

Benefits include an international medical plan, dental and vision insurance, generous leave, a highly competitive retirement program, and family-friendly allowances for overseas staff. CRS also prioritizes and invests in staff safety and security and provides travel and property insurance, disability coverage and Employee Assistance Programs.

1. MEDICAL, DENTAL & VISION

Fellows can access providers around the world through CRS' health plan with Aetna International. The health plan includes medical and vision coverage with zero deductible for in-network providers and low coinsurance and copayments. Comprehensive dental benefits are available to Fellows as well.

2. SAFE FURNISHED HOUSING

CRS provides each Fellow with basic furnished housing, which includes electricity, running water, internet and security services (if necessary). The Fellow's housing is usually an apartment or house near the CRS office.

3. PAID TIME OFF (VACATION, SICK, & PERSONAL)

CRS provides Fellows 20 days of paid vacation along with 12 days of sick leave annually. In addition, we offer 4 personal days to attend to emergency or non-emergency situations occurring during a normally scheduled workday.

4. TRAVEL & MEDICAL EVACUATION

CRS covers the Fellow's travel to their country of assignment. In the event of a life-threatening illness or accident, Fellows as well as accompanying dependents on assignment have access to CRS’ medical assistance vendor who can facilitate emergency care anywhere in the world.

5. RETIREMENT BENEFITS

CRS offers a 50% match on the first 6% of contributions as well as a contribution of 7% of pay regardless of employee contributions, after six months of service.

6. CONTINUED EDUCATION

Upon hire, Fellows have access to CRS' robust online learning platform. Additionally, CRS will reimburse up to $5,200 per year for employees pursuing degrees and professional certifications, after one year of employment.

CRS International Development Fellows Program Requirements

They recruit Fellows from around the world, including nationals of the countries where we work and from underrepresented groups in the U.S. and globally. They welcome applications from candidates of all faiths and secular traditions who share their  values and their commitment to serving those in need.

Minimum Fellowship Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of two years of work experience, including minimum of six months of work or volunteer experience in a developing country
  • Fluency in English with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professional proficiency in a second language (preference given to French, Arabic and Portuguese)
  • Able to work in locations with infectious diseases and limited access to medical facilities.

Selection Process & Timeline

Applications will be accepted through November 01, 2024. The top candidates will be invited to complete a video interview, language test, phone screen and final interview. Please visit the FAQs for more information.
