About the Role

The role aims to support the strengthening of the CIVICUS Monitor’s global research collaboration, in particular, to support the implementation of the Monitor’s civic space incident tool, an analysis tool that aims to record the details of each of the civic space incidents that are published on the Monitor and overall data analysis ahead of the publication our report People Power Under Attack.

Key activities include:

  • Support the implementation of the Monitor's civic space incidents tool.
  • Lead the data entry and record the civic space incidents.
  • Other tasks related to the furtherance of CIVICUS research on civic space, as assigned.
  • Support the strengthening of the Monitor's research partner collaboration.
  • Support the identification of partners knowledge and information needs.
  • Support the team communication strategy and information sharing through social media and other platforms.

Benefits of Civicus Civic Space Research Internship

  • Interns will be paid USD $1,200 stipend.

Civicus Civic Space Research Internship Requirements

  • Pursuing or completed bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge or experience conducting research on human rights.
  • An understanding of international human rights frameworks related to fundamental freedoms of association, peaceful assembly and expression.
  • Proficiency in any UN language is desirable.
