The Center for Black Educator Development is seeking to support nonprofit organizations that are working to support diverse teacher pipelines in their local communities. If your organization supports the recruitment, development and/or retention of diverse teachers, then they invite you to apply for this grant opportunity.

Center for Black Educator Development Diverse Teacher Pipeline Grant Requirements

1. Open to nonprofit organizations in the United States that are actively working to strengthen diverse teacher pipelines in local communities.

2. They are currently prioritizing organizations serving the following regions (organizations outside of these regions are welcome to apply, however, priority will be given to the regions of interest):

  • California
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Pennsylvania
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Tennessee
  • Washington D.C.

Please note that this is a one-year grant and grant funds requested must be utilized strictly for the purposes outlined in the proposal and budget. Upon grant reporting, all expenditures must align with the goals and objectives specified. Specific guidelines for fund usage are outlined below:

Eligible Expenses:

  1. Personnel Costs: Salaries and wages for staff directly involved in the project, including project managers, researchers, coordinators, and administrative personnel.

  2. Materials and Supplies: Necessary consumables, including office supplies, research materials, software and/or licenses, and equipment directly related to the project’s scope.

  3. Travel and Related Expenses: Travel costs for project staff, including transportation, lodging, and meals, if required for project execution, such as for site visits, conferences, or training directly tied to project objectives.

  4. Contracted Services: Payments to external consultants, contractors, or organizations who are performing tasks integral to the project’s success, as detailed in the proposal.

  5. Equipment: Purchase of equipment that is necessary for the implementation of the project, which will be used for the duration of the project and aligned with the project’s objectives

Ineligible Expenses:

  1. Unrelated Expenses: Funds may not be used for activities unrelated to the scope and objectives of the project, including but not limited to personal expenses, entertainment, and recreational activities.

  2. Capital Expenses: Grant funds may not be used for major capital expenditures, such as the purchase or construction of buildings, infrastructure, or long-term assets not directly related to the project.

  3. Lobbying and Political Activities: No portion of the grant funds may be used to influence legislation, participate in political campaigns, or lobby government officials.

  4. Debt Repayment or Loan Payments: Grant funds cannot be applied to repay existing debts, loans, or other financial obligations unrelated to the project’s objectives.

  5. Private Benefit or Profit: Grant funds may not be used for the purpose of generating personal profit, dividends, or private gain for individuals or for-profit entities.

  6. Indirect Costs: Grant funds may not be used for indirect costs, including overhead, general administrative costs, and facility maintenance.
