The programme targets projects designed and developed primarily by local partners. Projects are selected and approved by the Canadian embassy or high commission concerned. The CFLI also serves to support bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies, by strengthening contacts and supporting local initiatives.

Grant
- The average contribution from the CFLI is CAN$31,000 (CAN$100,000 is the maximum amount allocated for an eligible project under the CFLI).
Canada Fund for Local Initiatives - Algeria 2024 Requirements
Eligible recipients are:
- local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organisations.
- Local educational institutions working on local projects.
- international non-governmental organisations working on local development activities.
- international, intergovernmental, multilateral, and regional institutions, organisations and bodies involved in local development activities.
- Municipal, regional, or national government institutions or bodies in the beneficiary country working on local projects.
- Canadian non-governmental and non-profit organizations involved in local development activities.
Application Date and Process
- All projects must be completed between the date of signature of the contribution agreement and 28 February 2025.
- The deadline for submission is June 7, 2024 at 23:59 (GMT+X).
- Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
- Proposals must be submitted electronically to the following email address: [email protected]
- Only proposals using the designated application form and including the required budget document will be considered.
- For more information on the types of activities and costs eligible for CFLI funding, please consult the list of activities and costs approved by the CFLI.
- Proposals must be written in English or French.
- Project proposals must explicitly answer all the questions in the CFLI project application form, including the required gender analysis. The proposed project budget should summarise the proposed activities and associated costs.
- A selection committee will assess applications on their merits.
- Due to the large number of applicants, only successful candidates will be contacted.

- Two-year programme:
- Projects covering two fiscal years (April 2024 to March 2026) may be authorized depending on project objectives and complexity of activities.
