The Local Initiatives Fund in South Africa (LIFSA) is an initiative of the Government of the Principality of Monaco in partnership with the Alliance Française of Johannesburg and with the support of ILLIS Monaco, the Embassy of France in South Africa, the Embassy of Switzerland in South Africa and the Saxon Hotel. The fund works together with its partners and beneficiaries for the benefit of civil society in the townships of Johannesburg targeting children (under six years old), youth and women.

  • The initiatives selected will receive a maximum subsidy of R160,000.

Local Initiatives Fund South Africa Requirements

  • Civil society organizations working in vulnerable areas in Gauteng, are invited to submit their proposals.
  • All applicant associations must be duly registered in South Africa. However, you can still participate in the project if you apply in partnership with a registered association.
  • Organisations working in Johannesburg and its surrounds (Gauteng province) will be selected.
  • Private entities can apply to the fund only if they have a non-profit company status.
