For over two decades, the International Children’s Peace Prize has recognized extraordinary young individuals who boldly advocate for children’s rights. Established by KidsRights during the 2005 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome, this prestigious award is presented annually by a Nobel Peace Laureate. Past winners include inspiring figures like Malala Yousafzai and Greta Thunberg, who have made a lasting impact on the world.
Last year’s 20th-anniversary celebration was a remarkable event, bringing together previous laureates to highlight the power of youth activism. Nila Ibrahimi was honored with the 2024 award for her courageous fight for girls’ rights in Afghanistan. Through her protest song Go to School, she led a global movement against the ban on schoolgirls singing. Her message resonated across the world, reaching over 3.8 billion people through major media outlets like BBC and CNN, demonstrating the profound influence of this award in empowering young voices to drive real change.
