The UNICEF USA National Youth Council is a dynamic group of young leaders dedicated to elevating the voices and perspectives of young people. Council members collaborate with UNICEF staff to advocate for policy change, support youth and volunteer programs, and foster community engagement. Additionally, members play a pivotal role in shaping UUSA’s culture, strategy, and operations by bringing a youth-centric approach to decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elevate Youth Voice: Represent UNICEF USA at events and meetings locally and nationally, create social content for UUSA’s social media channels.
  • Support Youth & Volunteer Programs:Provide feedback and insight on engaging young people in social justice work, inform strategic initiatives and campaigns.
  • Educate and Motivate: Lead issue-specific projects to educate and inform youth, volunteers, and staff, amplify youth voice through media and thought pieces.
  • Build Community: Foster relationships with fellow council members, Youth Representatives, and UNICEF Clubs, manage the Slack community, host digital conversations with students.

Commitment

  • Serve a one-year term from August 1, 2024, to May 30, 2025 (with the option to re-apply).
  • Dedicate 3-5 hours per week to council-related projects, meetings, trainings, and activities.
  • Attend weekly meetings on Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 PM EST, and participate in both in-person and virtual gatherings/trainings.
  • Availability for summer and fall training sessions.
