About YSEALI Academic Fellowship

Opportunity Details

The YSEALI Academic Fellowship is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive exploration of the United States, focusing on one of three themes: Civic Engagement, Environmental Issues, and Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. Over the course of five weeks, fellows will engage in a variety of activities including seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures. This multifaceted approach ensures a rich and dynamic learning experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application.

YSEALI Academic Fellowship Requirements

To be eligible for the YSEALI Academic Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Age: Between 18 and 25 at the time of application.
  2. Citizenship: Citizens of Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, or Vietnam are eligible to apply.
  3. Residency: Applicants must be residents of one of the aforementioned countries.
  4. Citizenship Status: Applicants must not be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
  5. Education: Full-time undergraduate or graduate students, or individuals who have graduated less than five years ago from an institution of higher learning.
  6. English Proficiency: Proficient in English, capable of reading, writing, and speaking in a U.S. university classroom setting. No TOEFL, IELTS, or other test scores are required; English language proficiency is evaluated through the application form and interviews with YSEALI program staff.
