Applications are open to join the OHCHR-EAA Youth Advisory Board 2024. OHCHR invites youth-led and youth-focused organizations to nominate young people to become part of the new cohort of the Youth Advisory Board training that will help empower youth to stand up for their human rights.
Opportunity Details
The Youth Advisory Board will be established by OHCHR and Education Above All (EAA) for the new phase of the project "Working with and for youth in vulnerable situations including conflict, violence, and insecurity". The project, initiated in 2021 aims at empowering and mobilizing young people to stand up for their human rights by developing and disseminating a toolkit on human rights knowledge, skills, and advocacy. The first phase of the project involved the setting up of a Youth Advisory Board and the development of the Youth Rights Advocacy Toolkit, which was launched in September 2023 as the YES: Youth Empowerment System ("YES").
In February 2024, EAA and OHCHR signed an agreement for the continuation of the project, which will use "YES" to train young people on human rights advocacy at a country level, as well as through organizing a Youth Rights Academy in Geneva. To ensure the meaningful engagement of young people in the project, a new cohort of the Youth Advisory Board will be established that will work in partnership with EAA and OHCHR on the implementation of the project. Youth-led and youth-focused organizations are invited to nominate up to two young persons (if two, of different genders) to become part of the Youth Advisory Board.
The nominees should correspond to the following criteria:
