About MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP)

Opportunity Details

The MENA Scholarship Programme aims to contribute to the societal development of the participating countries in the Middle East and North Africa region. It also seeks to build capacity within organisations by enabling employees to participate in short courses in various fields of study.

The following courses are eligible for the next scholarship application round:

  • Citizen Participation and Inclusive Governance
  • Inclusive Service Delivery & the SDGs
  • Urban Governance: Resilient and Smart Cities
  • Local Climate Response
  • Migration and Local Authorities

Benefits of MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP)

Through this scholarship a limited selection of working professionals up to (and including) 45 years old can follow a fully-funded short course study programme in the Netherlands. Short courses can take 2 up to 13 weeks.

 

MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) Requirments

  • You are a professional working in one of the eligible countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman and Tunisia.
  • You are 45 years old or younger on the application deadline, plus two weeks;
  • You are not employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff development. E.g. international development organisations or private companies;
  • You have a minimum of two years of work experience;
  • You speak and understand the English language well (all programmes are in English);
  • You have written support from your employer to participate in the programme and to implement the Back Home Action Plan.
  • You are working in one of the priority areas matching the thematic approach of the MENA Scholarship Programme in your country.

 

Application Date and Process

Once you submit your application, several assessments will take place:

  1. The Hague Academy will assess your application first based on whether you meet the eligibility criteria, the relevance of the course for your work and position, your motivation and the required documents.
  2. If you meet all the academic and eligibility requirements, you will receive an invitation from The Hague Academy to proceed with the final step in the application procedure: registering in Delta, Nuffic’s database.
  3. Then, the Embassies of the Netherlands in each country will assess and score the applications based on the country’s focus.
  4. After these two assessments, Nuffic selects the awarded candidates. They will allocate scholarships according to the available budget and the criteria set out u the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  5. Applicants will be notified by The Hague Academy regarding the outcome of the selection.

Applicants that do not qualify to proceed will not receive any further notification.
