BACKGROUND

Closing the digital healthcare divide on the African continent requires persistent effort and dogged determination. Digital healthcare is an opportunity to solve the burden of the healthcare crisis in Africa and propel the continent's economic growth.

The global digital health market is projected to grow by 21.9% by 2030. It is African women who are set to drive the growth of the African digital healthcare market.

Women founded and women owned African health care tech companies accounted for 31% of the total investment in digital healthcare in 2023. Women struggle to access networks that are supportive of their success - they face unequal competition from other women, men and other start-ups with greater resources. Women need a supportive working environment in which to grow their ideas.

The AWIDH Mentorship program provides a unique opportunity for African women in the digital health space to work closely together, to grow, learn and change, to help close the digital healthcare divide on the African continent. African women innovators in the digital healthcare field can have greater success with the help of a close network of peers and mentors, to keep them accountable, creative and even more dedicated to their work.
