American Psychological Foundation Dr. Christine Basely Ford Grant Requirments

All applicants need to meet these eligibility criteria:

  • Be a graduate student or early-career psychologist; 
  • Be in affiliation with educational and scientific institutions, non-profit charitable, or governmental units fully operating for charitable and educational purposes;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma and trauma research;
  • Demonstrated ability and capacity to accomplish the proposed work;
  • Have IRB approval from the host institution before receiving the fund if human participants are involved.

Also, the selection panel may evaluate the proposals against the following criteria:

  • Quality, viability, and potential impact of the project; 
  • Innovation, originality, and contribution to trauma; 
  • Applicant’s ability and capability to accomplish the proposed work.

 Required Documents

Applicants must provide the followings in a single document (not more than three pages with one-inch margins,11-point Times New Roman/Garamond font, and single space):

  • Goals, relevant background, or literature review;
  • Research methods with enough details assessable design, assessments, and procedures; 
  • Estimated outcomes, impact, and significance of the project; 
  • The project’s timeline is a maximum of one page; 
  • Detailed budget and justification of a maximum of one page;
  • Abbreviated CV of a maximum of five pages.
