Are you a young woman interested in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)? Do you want to develop critical skills while tackling real-world global challenges? The AFS Global STEM Accelerators program offers a fully funded opportunity for young women worldwide to advance their STEM knowledge, enhance global competence, and make a meaningful impact.
Opportunity Details
Despite making up more than half of the college-educated workforce, women represent only 28% of professionals in STEM fields. Many girls interested in STEM face barriers due to traditional gender biases and a lack of opportunities. This program aims to bridge that gap by providing young women with an inclusive, supportive environment to explore STEM careers and build essential skills.
Participants will join a 12-week virtual exchange program co-developed with the University of Pennsylvania. They will engage in hands-on learning, problem-solving activities, and collaborative projects focusing on climate change and energy transition. Successful participants will earn the prestigious Advanced Certificate on Global Competence for Social Impact, awarded by AFS and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Impact Strategy.
