Africa’s workforce is rapidly adapting to the digital age, with outsourcing from Global North companies fuelling the rise of remote work, freelancing, and gig-based employment. However, while these opportunities promise economic inclusion, they also come with significant challenges: low wages, job insecurity, and exploitation by international corporations.
Africa No Filter, in partnership with Ford Foundation, is calling on journalists, podcasters, and content creators who want to impact how Africa’s workforce is adapting to apply for the Work Reimagined StoryLab grant. They will create compelling stories and produce engaging content about the future of work in Africa to spark conversation and drive change towards a for a more inclusive, fair, and sustainable future of work in Africa.

Africa No Filter Work Reimagined StoryLab Grant Requirements
- Content creators and podcasters(18+) from Africa and the Diaspora interested in sparking conversations about labour and fair pay.
- Junior and mid-career journalists(18+)working in established media houses in Africa and the diaspora interesting in producing compelling stories on work and workers’ rights for publication in influential outlets.
- Open to freelance journalists (18+) working in Africa and the diaspora interesting in producing stories on work and workers’ rights for publication in influential outlets.
- Applicants must have a combined audience of minimum 2,000 followers across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
