The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) offers fully funded scholarships for Master’s Program students at Nagoya University, Graduate School of International Development (GSID). Starting in April 2025, the program aims to support students from ADB borrowing member countries in pursuing higher education and professional development.

ADB-JSP Scholarship 2025 for Master’s Program Requirments

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be a nationals of an ADB borrowing member country.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a qualified university.
  • At least two years of full-time professional working experience
  • Born on or after June 1, 1989.
  • Meet the minimum English proficiency scores:
    • TOEFL: 550 (PBT), 79 (iBT), 8.5 (Essentials)
    • IELTS: 6.0 (Academic)
    • Duolingo: 110
  • They must not be living or working outside their home country.
  • Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, ADB staff, and their close relatives are ineligible.
  • Should not be enrolled in a graduate degree program; exceptions apply.
  • Should not have previously studied abroad.
  • Family income should not exceed $50,000/year; individual income should not exceed $25,000/year.

  • ADB-JSP Information Sheet(typewritten/computerized)
  • Application Form with a recent photograph
  • Copy of Passport (clear, colored, with signature)
  • Certified Copy of Bachelor’s Degree Official Diploma
  • Certified Copy of Bachelor’s Degree Official Academic Transcripts
  • Certificate of Employment and Compensation/Income (detailed and signed by the employer)
  • Proof of Family Income or No Income (for spouse/parents)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Official English Score (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo)
  • Two Confidential Letters of Recommendation
  • Research or Work Experience
  • Research Proposal (about 800 words)

Selection Process

Below is the highlight of the selection procedure:

  • Eligibility Screening: Based on submitted documents
  • Oral Examination: Online interview on September 12, 2024
  • Final Selection: Conducted by ADB, results announced by early December 2024
