About Mental Health America Young Leaders Council
Opportunity Details
MHA's Young Leaders Council (YLC) is made up of young people who have created programs and initiatives to fill gaps in mental health support and resources in their communities. Each year, 10 leaders are selected and participate in this six-month leadership development program.
Selected applicants participate in a cohort to connect and share ideas with other leaders from across the U.S. YLC members contribute to Mental Health America's MHA content and an annual report on expanding or replicating their ideas.
Benefits of Mental Health America Young Leaders Council
As part of the program, participants:
- Attend monthly 90-minute meetings over a six-month term.
- Receive one-on-one mentoring.
- Receive opportunities to present at MHA local and national events and with MHA partners.
- Share their thoughts, work, and stories via
- MHA's website and social media, as well as with partner organizations, journalists, and others interested in youth mental health.
- Join the Expanding Impact Network of MHA youth program graduates, which includes ongoing training and community building.
- Receive a $1,000 stipend.
Mental Health America Young Leaders Council Requirements
- Open to young leaders in the U.S.
- Applicants should be between the ages 18-25 years.
